Registration is open for Aruba’s 2027 national exams, giving people outside regular secondary school another route to earn a MAVO, HAVO or VWO diploma or complete certificates in individual subjects.
Registration remains open through October 16
The Aruba Department of Education’s examinations section says candidates can register for the 2027 national exams through October 16, 2026. Applicants must complete the digital registration form on the department’s website and upload a civil-registry extract that is no more than six months old. The extract costs Afl. 5.
The department advises candidates to read the 2027 national-exam information brochure before submitting the online form.
A flexible path to a diploma or subject certificates
The national-exam route is intended for people who no longer attend secondary school but still want to earn a diploma, as well as candidates seeking a certificate in one or more specific subjects. A national-exam MAVO, HAVO or VWO diploma has the same value as the corresponding diploma obtained through a secondary school.
Candidates do not have to sit every subject in the same year. They may complete one or more subjects across different school years and receive partial certificates, with up to 10 years available to finish the full diploma requirements.
History is unavailable for HAVO and VWO this year
The department says the same examination requirements and written central examinations apply. However, history will not be offered through the national-exam route for HAVO and VWO in the 2027 cycle.
