Alzheimer Foundation Aruba will open Teal Ribbon Awareness Week on Sunday, September 20, beginning a community observance that continues through September 27, 2026. The initiative is part of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
Opening prayer planned in San Nicolas
The foundation is inviting the public to attend an opening prayer at Santa Teresita Church in San Nicolas. The gathering is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 20.
According to the foundation’s announcement, the prayer will focus on health, strength and hope for people living with a neurocognitive condition. It will also recognize families and others supporting a loved one at home or in a care facility.
Awareness week uses a teal ribbon
The Teal Ribbon Awareness Week runs through Sunday, September 27. Alzheimer Foundation Aruba said the community’s presence and support at the opening event are highly valued.
The announcement also notes that the term “neurocognitive conditions” is now used for conditions previously referred to as dementia.
