ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Coast Guard Rescues Fisherman After Fall Near Valero on Saturday evening after the man fell overboard from his fishing boat and was later found clinging to a buoy in the waters near the Valero area.

Shortly after sunset on July 25, the Coast Guard Maritime Operations Center received an emergency call requesting assistance at sea. Authorities were informed that a fisherman had fallen from his boat near Valero.

According to officials, the fisherman managed to call his family to report that he needed help. His relatives immediately contacted the authorities to request an emergency rescue.

Rapid Search and Rescue Response

A Metal Shark Coast Guard patrol vessel was quickly dispatched to the area, while the Coast Guard also requested aerial support from one of its helicopters to assist with the search operation.

Upon arriving near Valero, the Metal Shark crew located the fisherman holding onto a buoy in the water.

Fisherman Safely Brought Ashore

Two boats that were already operating in the area assisted the rescue by helping remove the fisherman from the water and transporting him safely back to shore.

Once ashore, officers from the Aruba Police Force received the fisherman, and an ambulance was requested to evaluate his condition.

Paramedics determined that the fisherman was in good health despite the ordeal.

Meanwhile, other fishermen in the area also helped recover the drifting fishing boat and return it safely to shore.

Authorities thanked everyone who assisted in the successful rescue operation, highlighting the coordinated efforts of the Coast Guard, police, fellow fishermen, and emergency responders.
