EU Parliamentarian Maij: Arubans Face EU Barriers

ORANJESTAD (AAN): European Parliamentarian Marit Maij recently concluded a visit to Aruba, where she found that despite holding European citizenship, Arubans face significant practical barriers to exercising their EU rights.

As an LGO (Landen en Gebieden Overzee / Overseas Countries and Territories) of the European Union, Aruba has access to European funds and programs. However, Maij identified obstacles such as bureaucracy, language barriers, and lack of information that limit the effective use of these resources.

The parliamentarian emphasized the urgent need to remove these barriers so that Arubans can fully benefit from their EU-associated status and access the opportunities available to them.
