ORANJESTAD (AAN): Aruba hosted the first-ever Investment Conference as part of the 21st EU-OCT Forum, marking a historic milestone for regional collaboration and investment opportunities.
Minister Geoffrey Wever opened the conference, bringing together Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs), the European Union, and representatives from the Netherlands, France, and Denmark. The OCT Investment Conference Aruba aims to strengthen dialogue, cooperation, and solutions for shared challenges.
The event highlighted key areas such as maritime and digital connectivity, energy, crisis management, and environmental challenges like sargassum. Participation in the EU’s Global Gateway initiative was emphasized as a major opportunity to unlock public and private investment.
The OCT Investment Conference Aruba also focused on improving access to funding for impactful projects. By connecting private sector actors, EU institutions, and development finance organizations, the conference aims to turn ideas into concrete investments that benefit local communities.
Aruba’s recent upgrade to an ‘A-’ credit rating by Standard & Poor’s further strengthens its position in attracting international investment and supports its strategy to diversify its economy.
The OCT Investment Conference Aruba underscores the strong potential for regional cooperation, enabling territories to jointly address structural challenges while promoting innovation and sustainable development.
