On Earth Day, an official ceremony took place for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a significant step in strengthening cooperation for the protection of nature and sustainable development in Aruba. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Mike Eman, Minister of Infrastructure Rene Herde, and representatives from the Aruba Conservation Foundation, Tyson Lopez and Natasha Silva.
The signing of this agreement reflects a deep commitment to the protection of Aruba’s natural resources and the promotion of sustainable development on the island. Prime Minister Eman emphasized the importance of everyday efforts to preserve nature and noted that many people overlook the profound connection between the island’s various ecosystems—from the vegetation on land to the mangroves and marine life.
The agreement also highlights the development of a Marine Park project, which aims to strengthen the protection of both land and marine environments. The initiative, which has been in the works for years, is now becoming a reality thanks to the signing of the MOU.
Prime Minister Eman concluded by expressing appreciation for all those involved in this important endeavor, underscoring the significance of continued collaboration to safeguard Aruba’s natural heritage.
