On March 25, 2026, Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, along with the Aruba delegation, including Mr. Chito Paris and Ms. Emiliënne Kelly from the Ministry of Finance, participated in the first round of financial meetings in New York.
The Aruba delegation was warmly received by Citi, led by Mr. Dustin Ling, an Aruban professional who has been working at Citi in New York for several years. This meeting not only provided a platform for high-level financial discussions but also marked a proud moment for Aruba, showcasing local talent actively contributing to global institutions.
During the meeting, the delegation provided a comprehensive update on Aruba’s economic and financial situation, including the national debt refinancing process planned for 2026. The primary focus was on Aruba’s position in the capital market, targeting a new group of investors. While Aruba has already attracted several American investors, the main objective of this mission was to expand the investor base to strengthen Aruba’s position in the international capital market.
The first day of meetings was considered successful and productive, with in-depth discussions on opportunities to strengthen international relations and broaden the network of investors who could collaborate with Aruba. These discussions are part of a broader strategy to diversify access to financing while ensuring that Aruba continues to meet its existing obligations with international investors.
On Tuesday, the Aruba delegation continued its journey with the next phase, traveling to London for the second part of the meetings with European investors. These upcoming meetings will focus on the same strategic goals: securing responsible financing, strengthening international relations, and creating more opportunities for Aruba in the capital market.
Through this effort, the AVP-Futuro Cabinet reaffirms its commitment to responsible financial management and making decisions that ensure the well-being of Aruba, both now and in the future.
