Prime Minister Mike Eman has reiterated that Aruba’s diplomatic relations with Venezuela, as well as with the United States, are primarily handled through the official channels of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Speaking during a press conference, Prime Minister Eman responded to questions about whether the Government of Aruba maintains direct contact with Venezuela, particularly through the Venezuelan Consulate, to obtain more specific information regarding the situation between Venezuela and the United States.
The Prime Minister emphasized that diplomatic communication with Venezuela follows established Kingdom protocols. He explained that the Kingdom of the Netherlands maintains an embassy in Caracas, which serves as the main channel for keeping lines of communication open. Any inquiries or concerns from the Venezuelan side are directed to the Kingdom’s embassy in Venezuela.
Prime Minister Eman noted that this approach is standard international practice, stating that when media reports or speculation arise, governments typically first seek clarification through official diplomatic missions. In this case, the Embassy of the Kingdom in Caracas remains the primary point of contact.
He further underlined that the Government of Aruba has not received any signals from the Kingdom’s embassy in Caracas indicating concern or distrust regarding Aruba’s position as an island focused on development and tourism. Prime Minister Eman reaffirmed that Aruba continues to project itself internationally as a stable, welcoming destination, widely known as the “One Happy Island,” and maintains that posture on the global stage.
