The Central Bank of Aruba (BCA) has released the results of its Consumer Confidence Survey for the third quarter of 2025, highlighting growing concerns among consumers, particularly regarding higher prices in the coming six months.
The Consumer Confidence Survey measures how local consumers perceive current and future economic conditions. The latest results show that consumer sentiment remains pessimistic, with expectations worsening compared to the previous quarter.
Key Consumer Concerns for the Next Six Months
- 30% of respondents expect the financial situation of their household to deteriorate (up from 17% in Q2 2025).
- 56% anticipate a deterioration in business conditions and the overall economy (Q2 2025: 46%).
- 42% believe it will be more difficult to find a new job (Q2 2025: 40%).
- 39% expect the government’s financial position to worsen (unchanged from Q2 2025).
As a result, the Consumer Confidence Index declined to 92.8 in the third quarter of 2025, confirming a generally negative outlook among consumers.
Spending and Saving Behavior
The Consumer Habits Index fell by 3.3 points to 93.5 in Q3 2025. Both the Current Situation Index and the Expectations Index also declined, reaching 92.4 and 93.1, respectively. Meanwhile, the Price Expectations Index remained unchanged at 90.2.
Rising prices continue to be the dominant concern, with 90% of respondents expecting prices to increase over the next six months—only slightly lower than in the previous quarter.
Additionally:
- 92% of respondents stated they are able to buy less with their income compared to six months ago (up 4 percentage points).
- 46% reported that they are saving less, an increase of 11 percentage points compared to the second quarter of 2025.
Outlook
