According to information from the Netherlands, the Aruba Government Office in The Hague (Gabinete di Aruba na Hulanda) hosted an informative session at Haagse Hogeschool for Aruban students on the topic of budgeting and managing expenses while studying abroad.
Sidney Kock, PR representative of the Aruba Government Office in the Netherlands, welcomed the students and expressed satisfaction with the strong turnout. Kock explained that the idea for this session emerged from last year’s Ban Topa meeting, where students voiced the need for practical informational events on topics that matter to them.
Study mentor Shahaira Brokke also addressed the group on behalf of the mentors, emphasizing the importance of these types of gatherings for providing valuable guidance that supports students throughout their academic journey.
The program featured two speakers.
The first was Franklin Seute, author of “Living Rich as a Student in the Netherlands” and founder of the platform Living Rich as a Student. His presentation provided practical tips, personal experiences, and financial strategies—covering housing, daily expenses, income generation, and building a confident financial mindset.
The second speaker was Farley Julius van Heydoorn, founder of BuroVAT and a debt management advisor at DUO, the institution responsible for student loans in the Netherlands. He shared his own experiences with debt and explained how those lessons now help him guide young people in taking control of their financial situation.
At the end of the session, students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive additional guidance from both speakers.
The Aruba Government Office in the Netherlands reflected positively on the event, calling it a highly successful and meaningful gathering at Haagse Hogeschool.
