The Aruba Fair Trade Authority (AFTA) and the Regulatory Authority of Curaçao (RAC) have signed a cooperation protocol to work together in overseeing the supply of water and electricity.
Under this agreement, both regulatory bodies will collaborate more closely through the exchange of knowledge, information, and experience. The protocol also covers joint training, work placement programs, and periodic meetings. The goal is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of supervision in both countries.
Curt Belfor, Director-General of RAC, emphasized the importance of mutual support: “By sharing our experiences and supporting each other, we can better respond to the challenges we face in the energy and utility sectors.” Dr. Roly Sint Jago, President of the Board of AFTA, also highlighted the significance of the collaboration: “The agreement provides us with the opportunity to learn from one another and build a stable and transparent regulatory framework for Aruba and Curaçao.”
This cooperation agreement aligns with both authorities’ broader ambition to promote regional collaboration and contribute to sustainable economic development in the Caribbean region.
