Arashi Beach in Aruba: A Hidden Gem with Calm Waters, White Sand, and a Beloved Beach Bar

VIEWS

The first thing you’ll notice is the sound — music spilling from a palapa-roofed beach bar, the soft murmur of conversation, and the clinking of Amstel Bright bottles on wooden counters. Situated just before the California Lighthouse, where the road curves into dunes and sea, Arashi Beach emerges. It’s a stretch of white sand that feels both secluded and inviting, equally beloved by locals and cherished by travelers.

The water here is calm and glassy, stretching out in a seamless sheet of turquoise. It’s perfect for swimming. Families lounge at the shore, while snorkelers venture out farther to explore reefs teeming with parrotfish and angelfish. You lose track of time, floating longer than you intended, as this is the kind of water that makes you forget the world around you.

The Beach Bar at Arashi

Then, there’s the Beach Bar at Arashi, the heart of the beach. A barefoot kind of place, where rum punch and beer flow freely, the scent of grilled fish fills the air, and steel drum melodies blend with the breeze. In the afternoon, the tables fill with both locals and visitors, all just out of the water with salt still drying on their skin. By sunset, it becomes one of the island’s most unforgettable open-air stages, with the sky turning shades of orange and violet, as everyone relaxes with a drink in hand. It’s not polished or pretentious — and that’s what makes it unforgettable.

What Makes Arashi Special

Arashi is where the island slows down. The sand is soft, the water crystal clear, and the atmosphere is unmistakably local. It doesn’t have the towering hotels of Palm Beach or the constant energy of Eagle Beach. Instead, it offers something rarer: space to breathe, a rhythm that moves at its own pace, and a bar that ties it all together. It’s not just a beach; it’s a feeling that stays with you long after you leave.

How to Get to Arashi Beach

Getting to Arashi Beach is easy. It’s just a short drive from the resort area, but the change in vibe is immediate. The California Lighthouse stands tall just beyond the sand, marking the island’s edge, while the parking lot fills with coolers, rental cars, and families who already know this is the place to spend the day.

As the sun sets and the dunes fade into shadow, you realize Arashi isn’t about what you do, but how you feel while you’re there. It’s the laughter at the bar, the quiet of the sea, and the gradual shift of the sky into night. It’s Aruba in its purest, most unforgettable form.
