Qreative Business Academy: A Concrete Step for Developing Aruba’s Creative Industry

Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, together with Qredits Aruba, has once again launched the Qreative Business Academy. Over a 10-week period, participants will receive lectures on the creative industry and essential tools to manage their own businesses. By the end of the program, each participant will develop a business and financial plan and present their product or service idea during a “Pitch Event.”

In addition to the academy, Minister Wever has been taking further steps with strategic partners to strengthen Aruba’s creative industry. Since August 2023, the Council of Ministers approved the management note Development of the Orange Economy in San Nicolas at his request.

In May 2024, the first Orange Economy Symposium was held in San Nicolas, which provided valuable input from participants. Based on this feedback, Minister Wever announced that, together with Qredits Aruba, the government would launch the Qreative Business Academy to guide creative entrepreneurs in starting and expanding their businesses. The Department of Economic Affairs will also continue offering Creative Entrepreneur Workshops as part of Aruba’s economic strategy.

Plans are also underway for a Creative Entrepreneurship Fund, as well as collaboration with the Netherlands through the Landspakket under the economic theme. Strategic partners such as the Go Cultura Foundation are also playing a key role in developing Aruba’s creative sector.

“Creating and diversifying economic sectors requires time and preparation. I believe in the potential of the creative industry as another important pillar of our economy. I wish all participants of the Qreative Business Academy much success, and I thank Qredits Aruba for being a strategic partner in this important effort,” stated Minister Geoffrey Wever.
