Government approves a financial study
Aruba’s Council of Ministers approved an assignment with MGM Source for a financial and economic feasibility study of a proposed Oranjestad parking garage at John G. Emanstraat and Emmastraat.
The concept calls for four or five parking levels plus two or three floors for housing or offices. The final configuration is undecided.
Study will test demand, cost and financing
The work will assess parking demand, costs and benefits, operating models, financing and economic impact. MGM Source was selected after four firms were invited and three offers evaluated.
It will also review development around Caya Betico Croes, Wilhelminastraat and John G. Emanstraat to estimate future parking needs.
Construction has not received final approval
Minister Geoffrey Wever said this is a feasibility phase, not a construction decision. The study is projected to take about 30 days. Renobacion Aruba will be examined as a potential participant in development, financing and operation.
