The Tax Department (Departamento di Impuesto) has officially released the 2026 ground tax notices, with notices set to arrive via post for Aruban taxpayers in the coming days. The department has confirmed that the payment deadline for this annual levy is June 1, 2026.
The assessments are mandatory for property owners and those holding rights such as *erfpacht* or *vruchtgebruik*. The tax amount is calculated based on the property’s market value and the tariff stipulated by local law. The Tax Department notes that legislation allows for payments to be made either in a single installment or spread out over several terms, details of which are included on the printed assessment.
To facilitate efficient processing, the Department recommends making payments online via the “Bill Pay” option through Aruba Bank, CMB, or Banco di Caribe. Taxpayers must ensure they input “grondbelasting 2026,” the assessment number, and their *persoonsnummer* to ensure the transaction is registered correctly on the same day.
For those unable to meet the standard payment terms, the BO impuesto (BOi) portal offers the ability to establish a payment arrangement (*areglo di pago*) of up to 24 months. Individual applicants must meet a minimum monthly payment of Afl. 100, while companies are required to pay a minimum of Afl. 1,000. Clients who do not yet have access to the digital portal can contact the Tax Department directly at 522-7423 or 522-7424 to arrange a plan.
