ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Wikipedia na Aruba has announced the final activity of its Wikimedian-in-Residence pilot project: a Wikipedia edit-a-thon titled “Wikipedia: Artists of Aruba.” The event will take place on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the National Library of Aruba (BNA), Arubiana-Caribiana Department.
The edit-a-thon is part of the ongoing Ban Wiki initiative, where participants can help create new articles, improve existing content, and make information about Aruba more accessible on Pap.wikipedia.org.
The event is open to the public, and no previous experience is required. Participants will receive step-by-step guidance on how to contribute to Wikipedia.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the availability of content in Papiamento and expand information about Aruba across Wikimedia platforms, helping preserve and share local knowledge and culture with a global audience.
Although the event marks the conclusion of the pilot project, educational materials will remain available to the public. These include instructional videos on the Wikipedia na Aruba YouTube channel and practical guides designed to help new volunteers learn how to contribute.
