Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers has expressed satisfaction with the progress of Aruba’s immigrant regularization process, particularly regarding the issuance of first-time residence permits.

In an interview with Matutino DIARIO, Minister Dowers explained that the government introduced this process to provide an opportunity for foreign nationals who are already living in Aruba but lack legal status due to various circumstances.

According to the minister, the government is pleased with the results observed so far. He announced that a press conference will be held in the coming weeks to present comprehensive data collected during the regularization process.

Minister Dowers also issued a public appeal to employers, noting that there are many individuals who have been living in Aruba for a long time but are still unemployed. He encouraged employers who are seeking workers to come forward and engage with the process.

He explained that the system allows eligible immigrants to receive a one-year permit, during which efforts will be made to connect them with employers. The minister emphasized that there may soon be individuals with valid permits but without an employer, and the government intends to facilitate connections between job seekers and employers in sectors such as cleaning, cooking, and other essential services.

“The law allows for employment opportunities for foreign nationals,” Minister Dowers stated, adding that the government will actively work to match permitted immigrants with employers who need workers.
