Aruba cultural work presented in Amsterdam
Cas di Cultura director Vicky Arens represented Aruba at the symposium REPAIR: Learning Cultural Justice from the ABC Islands in the Netherlands. She presented the institution’s work concerning colonial heritage and Aruba’s cultural identity.
Regional project concludes after a year
REPAIR concluded September 23 after a year of dialogue among partners from Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and the Netherlands. Led by Utrecht University academics Camila Malig and Jamila Mascat, it examined continuing effects of colonialism on heritage and reparative cultural interventions.
Permanent exhibition grows from documentary
Vicky Arens announced plans for a permanent exhibition connected to the documentary Memoria Ancestral and Cas di Cultura’s renovation. It will tell the story of Mon Plaisir, the 1958 establishment of Het Cultureel Centrum and Cas di Cultura’s development of an Aruban identity.
