Workshop concludes with exhibition
The Ateliers ’89 photography exhibition brought together work created during an intensive month-long course in Aruba. Instructor Fernando Vermeer said participants attended classes on several days each week and explored multiple approaches before presenting their final images.
Participants experimented with light
The course included live painting, live photography and methods using light in dark settings to produce portraits and other effects. Participant Meliza Lopez said the first three weeks focused on making photographs, while the final week was used to prepare exhibition material.
Aruba landscapes inspired exploration
Lopez said night photography let her work with unfamiliar lighting. She also highlighted her interest in Aruba’s sunrises, sunsets, birds, flowers and macro photography. The exhibition allowed participants to share the results of their experimentation and learning.
