ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Venearuba Solidaria, also known as La Casa del Venezolano, is hosting a fundraising event on Thursday evening to provide humanitarian assistance to victims of the recent earthquake in Venezuela.
Foundation President Grislynn Hernandes said the event was originally planned to raise money for solar lighting at the organization’s community plaza. However, following the devastating earthquake in Venezuela, the foundation decided to redirect all proceeds toward humanitarian relief efforts.
Hernandes said everyone involved in the event agreed that supporting the people of Venezuela is now the highest priority. She also appealed to boat owners in Aruba who may be willing to help transport humanitarian supplies by sea to Venezuela.
She plans to travel to Punto Fijo via Caracas next week to help coordinate relief efforts directly. Hernandes noted that the foundation has successfully organized similar humanitarian shipments in the past, including food and toys for Venezuelan communities.
The foundation thanked the Government of Aruba for facilitating humanitarian access and encouraged residents to attend the event or make donations. The fundraiser takes place at 8:00 p.m. in Casibari, with additional information available by calling 745-7501.
