ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AAN) — Traffic safety responsibility Aruba lies with every individual, according to Rubiela Toppenberg, Preventive Officer at Fundacion Anti Droga Aruba (FADA), who emphasized the importance of personal decision-making in keeping roads safe.
In an interview with Matutino DIARIO, Toppenberg highlighted that traffic safety is a shared responsibility within the community and forms the core message of FADA’s ongoing awareness campaign.
“The decision is in our hands,” she said. “I say our because we are all part of this community, and only we can make traffic safer.”
Toppenberg expressed gratitude to FADA’s partners for their commitment to prevention efforts, noting that collaboration strengthens the impact of awareness initiatives focused on responsible behavior.
She stressed that many traffic accidents—especially those involving drunk drivers—are preventable.
“All these accidents can be avoided,” Toppenberg said. “Have you heard the message? Let’s do our part. Pass the keys. It costs you nothing, but it can save me, save you, and save everyone on the road.”
The campaign’s key message, “Pasa e Yabi” (Pass the Key), encourages drivers to take responsibility, avoid driving under the influence, and protect lives across Aruba’s road network.
