Emergency services, including police, ambulance crews, and the fire department, responded to a traffic accident in Savaneta on Tuesday mid-day that resulted in injuries to two people. The collision involved a passenger car and a tow truck, requiring a complex rescue operation to free the trapped occupants.
According to reports from the scene, the incident began when a tow truck reversed out of a parking lot and into the path of oncoming traffic. A pick-up truck driving forward managed to swerve to avoid the tow truck. However, a Kia Rio traveling behind the pick-up did not have time to maneuver. The car collided with the rear of the tow truck and became lodged underneath it during the impact.
The force of the crash caused significant damage to the Kia Rio, trapping the female driver and a passenger inside the vehicle. With the doors jammed, first responders had to wait for the fire department’s rescue team to arrive. Firefighters successfully cut through the car’s structure to free the victims. Both individuals were treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to the hospital for further care.
