Minister of Health, drs. Melvin Wyatt-Ras, recently welcomed a delegation from the Dutch Caribbean Hospital Alliance (DCHA) and representatives from Hospital Horacio Oduber (HOH) to the Ministry. The high-level meeting was convened to discuss strategies for strengthening regional cooperation and facilitating the exchange of medical knowledge throughout the Dutch Caribbean.
Led by DCHA President Dr. Felix Holiday, the representatives formally presented the organization’s Multi-annual Plan 2026-2030 to Minister Wyatt-Ras. This strategic framework targets key areas including the improvement of care quality, the advancement of professional development, and the implementation of innovative practices to ensure the sustainability of regional health systems. “Regional cooperation is essential to continue strengthening our health system and ensure our community has access to quality care,” Minister Wyatt-Ras stated regarding the initiative.
The Dutch Caribbean Hospital Alliance acts as a cooperative bridge between general hospitals in Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, alongside medical centers in Saba and Sint Eustatius. The alliance actively promotes the sharing of expertise to elevate medical standards across the islands. The Ministry of Health has reiterated its commitment to fostering these regional partnerships, viewing them as a fundamental element in building a resilient and future-proof healthcare sector for Aruba.
