Visual artist and sculptor Claude Wever, originally from Sero Colorado, has unveiled his new exhibition titled “Subconscious Memories.” The artist utilizes canvas to materialize his visions and structural experiences, focusing on how the subconscious stores memories.
According to Wever, the subconscious retains memories from diverse sources, including travels, films, books, and Facebook images. These stored moments eventually resurface, creating profound reactions based on sentiment and thought. The exhibition is designed to confront visitors with paintings that trigger a feeling of familiarity, suggesting they have seen the imagery before or visited the depicted locations.
Wever attributes high educational value to the project, specifically emphasizing its importance for the youth. He noted that while past mentalities suggested art does not provide financial gain, time has demonstrated that culture cannot exist without art. Today, society comprehends the necessity of having art in its environment. Wever emphasizes that art manifests in every form, from media to simple flyers, and this value should not be devalued.
Highlighting the need for art to evolve alongside identity, Wever concluded, “Together with art, we are art, art is our culture.” The artist invites the public to explore the singular exhibition and confront their own memories.
