ARUBA OCEAN VILLAS — Fashion, art, gastronomy and music came together in an intimate and elegant setting on Saturday, September 26, as Osyth Resort Wear presented “The Depth of Light – An Art & Fashion Soirée” at Aruba Ocean Villas.
At the heart of the evening was Osyth Resort Wear and its collection of hand-painted kaftans, celebrated for their vibrant colors and distinctive designs that blend elegance with tropical living.
A garment with history
The kaftan carries a rich history spanning centuries, traveling through cultures, royal palaces and trade routes from North Africa and the Middle East to Europe before entering modern fashion. For Osyth, the kaftan is far more than a beach garment — it represents freedom, elegance, travel and artistic expression.
Each piece is hand-painted, giving every kaftan its own identity and turning it into a wearable work of art. Versatile by design, the garments move from daytime wear over a swimsuit to evening elegance paired with jewelry and sandals.
Against the backdrop of Aruba Ocean Villas — its water, trees and open sky — Osyth’s creations came to life in a setting organizers described as integral to the experience.
Maison Ryon’s new chapter
Event partner Maison Ryon Aruba presented its Legacy Line, a collection revisiting the print that formed the foundation of the brand and reimagining it in a new setting that reflects the brand’s island-inspired heritage.
The evening also marked the official launch of the Cinco Porta design, which links two worlds connected by trade and culture: Istanbul and Nieuwstraat in Oranjestad. The design draws inspiration from the home of Adriaan Lacle, whose five doors once made it a house of exchange.
The collaboration represents a new chapter for Maison Ryon, introducing leather into its collection for the first time. Among the new pieces are bags with gold detailing, designed to pair with the scarves that have become an iconic part of the brand.
More than a fashion event
With The Depth of Light, Osyth Resort Wear presented more than a fashion event. The evening traced the story of a garment that has traveled across generations and cultures — from North African and Middle Eastern trade routes to the runways of modern resort wear — and continues to evolve as an expression of art, elegance and freedom, now with an unmistakably Aruban signature.
Dinner and gratitude
Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner with wine pairings, featuring Caribbean lobster, yellowfin tuna and beef tenderloin, followed by vanilla bean cheesecake for dessert. Pepia Est and Divino handled the wine selection.
Special thanks were extended to Swift Distributions, The Salon Professionals and Redken, as well as the models, production, choreography, stage and backstage crews, content and front-of-house teams — and to Aruba Ocean Villas for providing what organizers called the perfect setting.
