ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Residents of Aruba are invited to deposit their separated household waste at the permanent waste drop-off located in Barcadera, officially opened on June 1 at Ecotech.
Maikel Gomes, Public Relations Officer for the Bureau City Inspector (BCI), explained that the permanent site operates daily from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, offering a safe and organized place for sorted waste. Only prohibited materials include kitchen and bathroom waste, hazardous chemicals, medical and infectious waste, toxic and flammable materials, and dead animals, which are handled directly by Serlimar.
Visitors are guided by staff to ensure proper sorting into the designated bins. Temporary neighborhood drop-offs have been paused, and the public is asked to use the Barcadera location while the government evaluates six more sites for permanent bins, with locations and opening dates yet to be announced.
