ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The Filipino community in Aruba commemorated the 128th anniversary of Philippine independence during a special ceremony at Princess Wilhelmina Park. The event was attended by Prime Minister Mike Eman, Ministers Rene Herdé, Mervin Wyatt-Ras, Wendrick Cicilia, parliamentary representatives, consular officials, local authorities, the Filipino community, and other guests.
The program featured flag-raising ceremonies for Aruba and the Philippines, performances of the national anthems “Aruba Dushi Tera” and “Lupang Hinirang,” floral tributes, spiritual messages, official speeches, cultural presentations, beauty queen coronations, and special recognitions.
Prime Minister Eman expressed gratitude for the Filipino community’s contributions to Aruban society, highlighting their key roles in healthcare, hospitality, entrepreneurship, innovation, and community service. He emphasized that the Filipino community’s dedication, talent, and solidarity strengthen Aruba’s social fabric and multicultural identity.
The celebration underscored the importance of mutual respect, coexistence, and community integration while honoring the historic ties between Aruba and the Philippines.
