ORANJESTAD, Aruba – Hadicurari Fishing Tournament Registration is still open for participants who want to join the popular fishing event scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the seaside area near Hadicurari.

Arthur Giel, president of Fundacion Centro di Pesca Hadicurari, said the response from fishermen has been strong, with many participants already registering for the tournament. This year’s event is being organized in collaboration with Santa Rosa and Aruba Wine & Dine.

A Captain’s Meeting was recently held at Centro di Bario Noord, where fishermen gathered to register their teams, collect participation packages and receive official T-shirts for the event.

The tournament includes two team formats. Participants can register as a Team Chikito, consisting of three people, or as a Team Grandi, consisting of five people.

For those who were unable to register during the Captain’s Meeting, organizers confirmed that Hadicurari Fishing Tournament Registration will remain available throughout the week at the Hadicurari office.

Registration can be completed between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with the final deadline set for Friday at 3:00 p.m.

The tournament itself will take place on Saturday along the waterfront at Hadicurari. In addition to the fishing competition, organizers are planning a full day of activities for participants, families and members of the public.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a Fish Fry, while chefs from Aruba Wine & Dine will prepare food during the event. The public portion of the program is scheduled to run from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The official prize presentation is expected to take place at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Organizers have also made transportation arrangements because the Hadicurari parking lot and the Berea di Piscado road will be closed during the event.

Visitors are being encouraged to park in the Sarah Quita Beach area near Fisherman’s Huts. From there, a Kukoo Kunuku bus will operate as a shuttle service between Sarah Quita Beach and Hadicurari.

According to organizers, the shuttle bus is expected to run approximately every 15 minutes, making it easier for guests to reach the event without dealing with limited parking close to the tournament site.

Giel said this year’s tournament will also include live entertainment and additional facilities designed to make the event comfortable for visitors.

A musical band is expected to perform, while a DJ will provide entertainment throughout the day. Organizers are also preparing a large shaded area where visitors can escape the sun while enjoying food, music and the fishing tournament atmosphere.

The combination of fishing, food, entertainment and community activities is expected to make the event attractive not only to participating fishermen but also to families and visitors looking for a weekend activity.

The strong response at the Captain’s Meeting has encouraged organizers as they complete final preparations for Saturday.

Residents who still want to compete have a limited opportunity to complete their registration before the Friday afternoon deadline.

The tournament continues Hadicurari’s tradition of bringing together fishermen, families, businesses and community partners for a celebration of Aruba’s fishing culture.
