The Young Voices reunion concert has named Carlos Bislip as musical director for the return of the Aruban vocal group known for its work during the 1970s and 1980s.
Repertoire and arrangements take shape
According to 24ora, Bislip said accepting the role was a privilege and an honor. Organizers have selected the songs and their keys, while arrangers are being matched with individual selections. The planned program contains about 18 songs.
The singers have also been rehearsing together and rebuilding their vocal blend after time apart. Bislip credited the earlier work of Maybeline Arends with helping shape the group’s sound and said the voices continue to combine well as preparations advance.
November performance planned in Oranjestad
The reunion concert is scheduled for November 22 at the Renaissance Convention Center. Bislip described the performance as a rare opportunity for longtime listeners to hear the group together again, bringing a well-known part of Aruba’s musical heritage back to the stage.
