During his working visit to the Netherlands, Prime Minister Mike Eman met with Martin Bosma, President of the Dutch Tweede Kamer (House of Representatives). This meeting followed a recent visit by a delegation from the Tweede Kamer to Aruba, where they gained insight into the challenges and issues faced by the Aruban government.
For Prime Minister Eman, it is of great importance to engage in discussions with politicians, particularly those in the Tweede Kamer, as many important decisions are made there. Strengthening ties with the Kingdom of the Netherlands is a key focus for Aruba.
According to Bosma, Aruba still faces several challenges, and the island is at a crossroads regarding the direction of its tourism-driven economy. While there is much interest from the Dutch Caribbean islands, Bosma believes that the members of the Tweede Kamer need to consider these matters more deeply to ensure Aruba’s continued development. He expressed confidence in Aruba and its people, hoping that the government’s concerns will be addressed properly.
Bosma showed genuine interest in Aruba and extended an invitation to be part of the ongoing discussions related to the Dutch budget decision-making process. At the beginning of the meeting, Bosma read a poem written for Prime Minister Mike Eman. The meeting also included greetings from other prominent members of the Dutch parliament.
The Aruban delegation participated in the meeting at the Tweede Kamer and will continue with more important discussions, further strengthening ties within the Kingdom.
In addition to his meeting with Bosma, Prime Minister Eman also met with Paul Rosenmöller, President of the Eerste Kamer Committee for Kingdom Relations, who is part of the GroenLinks-PvdA party. Rosenmöller expressed interest in the idea of an investment fund, which he plans to discuss with his colleagues in the Eerste Kamer. According to Prime Minister Eman, this could open up new opportunities for Aruba.
