ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba taxi driver Ronny Gomes is once again criticizing traffic congestion and road closures in the Palm Beach area during public events and marathon activities.
In an interview with DIARIO, Gomes expressed concerns about the impact road closures have on local businesses, restaurants, taxi services, employees, and tourists visiting the hotel district.
According to Gomes, several restaurants in Palm Beach become difficult to access whenever marathon routes and public activities block major roads in the area.
He stated that tourists have complained about transportation difficulties and traffic delays caused by event-related road closures.
Gomes also raised concerns regarding Aruba’s growing tourism industry, saying that infrastructure, parking availability, and traffic management are struggling to keep pace with the increasing number of visitors and businesses operating in the hotel area.
The taxi driver emphasized the need for authorities to improve traffic planning and infrastructure while considering the effects road closures have on tourism-related businesses and transportation services.
He argued that permits for public events should better account for traffic flow, taxi access, restaurant operations, and visitor mobility throughout Palm Beach and Eagle Beach.
