ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba Volunteers Treat Over 100 Patients in Venezuela Mission during the first full day of humanitarian operations following the powerful earthquake that struck the La Guaira region.

Prime Minister Mike Eman held a video call on Monday with Marylaine Lopez, Disaster Coordinator for the Aruba Red Cross, who is leading Aruba’s first humanitarian delegation in Caracas, Venezuela.

Emergency Team Working Alongside International Partners

Lopez reported that Aruba’s 11-member volunteer team is working closely with several international humanitarian organizations assisting communities affected by the earthquake.

She also confirmed that although moderate aftershocks have continued, all members of the Aruban delegation remain safe and operations are continuing as planned.

According to Lopez, being stationed alongside international response teams has provided additional security and support throughout the mission.

More Than 100 Patients Receive Medical Assistance

The Aruba Volunteers Treat Over 100 Patients in Venezuela Mission began immediately after arrival.

The team is currently operating an emergency pharmacy where volunteers have already assisted more than 100 patients by providing medication and basic medical care.

In addition, Aruban volunteers supported triage operations at a temporary field hospital during the evening, where approximately 360 patients were processed for emergency medical treatment.

Government Preparing Additional Medical Support

Prime Minister Eman thanked the volunteers for their dedication and told them that the people of Aruba are following their work with pride.

He also confirmed that the government continues to monitor the situation closely while coordinating preparations to deploy a second delegation consisting of doctors, medical specialists, and surgeons in cooperation with the Venezuelan Red Cross.

Marylaine Lopez said team morale remains high and that volunteers remain focused on delivering humanitarian assistance to those most in need.

The Aruba Volunteers Treat Over 100 Patients in Venezuela Mission represents the first phase of Aruba’s ongoing humanitarian response, with additional medical support expected to be deployed as needs continue to be assessed on the ground.
