Scouting Aruba Leadership: Prime Minister Mike Eman Says Discipline and Dedication Reflect Exactly What Our Country Needs
In an atmosphere filled with pride at Wilhelmina Park, Scouting Aruba celebrated an important moment: the official installation ceremony of its new Chief Commissioner and National Board for the period 2026–2029. Prime Minister Mike Eman was invited and his presence gave the ceremony a special character. Dave Martinus officially accepted the responsibility as Chief Commissioner. During the ceremony, Martinus wore the symbols of his position – his sash, lamp, and beret – officially marking his role as principal leader of Scouting Aruba. In an inspiring speech, Prime Minister Mike Eman shared a profound message about the values that form our society. “Scouting Aruba is something we must hold in high esteem,” Eman said, emphasizing respect for rules, fidelity to the word of the Lord, love for our country, and responsibility to care for our neighbors. The work of Scouting Aruba, with much discipline and dedication, reflects precisely what our country needs now more than ever. The evening continued with a symbolic ceremony: the laying of the wreath and repetition of the scout promise in commemoration of St. George’s Day, a symbol of courage, service, and faith for scouts worldwide. The event marked not only a change of leadership but also a renewal of commitment to the ideals of scouting.
