Aruba Drug Interception : The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard, operating from the Royal Dutch Navy vessel Zr.Ms. Friesland, successfully intercepted a drug transport on the Caribbean Sea on Thursday, April 23. The Coast Guard detected a suspicious boat navigating the waters and immediately deployed two FRISC-type interceptors to pursue the vessel.
The interception resulted in the surrender of three crew members, who offered no resistance during the operation. The apprehended individuals and the seized narcotics were subsequently handed over to the Police Force of Aruba (KPA) at the Coast Guard Support Point in Savaneta. Following standard procedures, all confiscated drugs were destroyed to ensure they do not re-enter the market.
This operation highlights the continued vigilance of the Coast Guard and local law enforcement in combating narcotics trafficking in the region. By maintaining a strong presence in Aruba’s territorial waters, authorities aim to disrupt the flow of illegal substances. The collaboration between the Dutch Navy and the KPA remains a critical component of the island’s security strategy, ensuring that those attempting to smuggle drugs are apprehended and processed according to the law.
