New License Plates Soon Available for Those Needing a Replacement

New License Plates

The Tax Department announced that, due to the depletion of license plates in categories A, MFA, DT, and O, they can no longer register vehicles requiring new plates. This issue arises from the high demand for new license plates.

In September and December of 2025, the department ordered 1,500 new plates (3,000 individual plates), but all of them have been distributed.

The Tax Department has already begun the process of ordering more plates, and they will soon announce when the new plates will be available for motorists and motorcyclists who are waiting.

Vehicle registration for plates in categories A, MFA, DT, and O will continue for those who already have plates and need to transfer them to another vehicle or person. Registration for other categories will proceed as usual. For vehicles with unpaid taxes on license plates, payments will continue as normal.

Please note that an additional penalty will apply for late payments if the first half of the 2026 motor vehicle tax has not been paid on time. The Tax Department apologizes for the inconvenience and assures that the situation is being given top priority to ensure that motorists and motorcyclists receive their new plates as soon as possible.
