ORANJESTAD – A motorcyclist was injured Friday afternoon following a traffic collision in the Palm Beach area after a driver making a left turn reportedly failed to see the oncoming motorcycle.
Police and ambulance personnel responded to the scene after receiving reports of the crash. According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of a Toyota Corolla was attempting to turn left when the motorcycle approached from the opposite direction. The driver reportedly said the low afternoon sun obstructed visibility, resulting in the collision.
The motorcyclist sustained injuries but declined transportation to the hospital after being assessed by ambulance personnel.
Traffic police later determined that the motorcyclist did not possess a valid motorcycle driver’s licence. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
