ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Moko Brush Fire Burns Into Night as Smoke Affects Residents as firefighters continued battling the large vegetation fire well into the evening following the major blaze that erupted earlier near Moko 30.
New videos and photographs released from the scene showed the fire still burning after nightfall, highlighting the scale of the incident and the lengthy operation carried out by emergency crews to contain the flames.
The intense fire produced large amounts of smoke that spread into nearby residential areas. Emergency responders also assisted a woman who became ill after being exposed to the heavy smoke near her home. An ambulance was dispatched to evaluate and provide medical care to the resident.
Firefighters remained on scene for several hours as they worked to prevent the fire from spreading further through the dry vegetation.
Authorities continue to remind residents living near the affected area to monitor air quality, limit exposure to smoke when possible, and check on elderly family members and neighbors while emergency crews complete firefighting operations.
