ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Aruban mixed martial arts fighter Mayvir Orman won a WMMAL title in Paraguay after stopping his opponent in the opening round, according to 24ora.
First-round knockout secures the title
Orman faced Argentina’s Benitez in the main fight of the event on Saturday night. The Aruban fighter won by knockout in the first round after preparing for the bout in Aruba and Colombia.
His son, Zaic Orman, supported him from the corner during the championship fight.
Orman signals retirement from competition
The result gave Orman a second championship belt in mixed martial arts. After the victory, he said he intends to retire from competition while continuing to guide and encourage young people who want to take part in the sport.
The Mayvir Orman WMMAL title adds another international achievement for an athlete representing Aruba.
