A young driver was taken to hospital after a single-vehicle crash on L.G. Smith Boulevard on Monday morning, according to a report from the scene.
Vehicle leaves road and strikes tree
AWE24 reported that the driver moved off the road while attempting to avoid hitting another vehicle from behind. The vehicle struck a curb and then a tree near the former Bushiri hotel area.
The source said the driver continued a short distance before stopping and notifying family members. Road-service personnel were then contacted, and police were called to the location.
Ambulance transports driver for examination
Police requested an ambulance after the driver briefly lost consciousness and appeared confused, according to the report. Paramedics examined the driver and decided to transport the person to hospital for further assessment because of the force of the impact.
