Shailiny Tromp-Lee: A Labor Day Tribute to Aruba

Today, on Labor Day, we pause to honor the main engine of our society: our workforce. It is not simply about a day off, but a moment to celebrate the sacrifice, talent, and determination of every man and woman who gets up daily with the goal of contributing to their family’s well-being and the progress of our island. The power of our workers. Work is much more than a transaction for a salary; it is the foundation of human dignity. From professionals in offices, hands working in construction, those in care and education, to the entrepreneur who opens new paths, every drop of sweat counts. It is the effort of everyone participating in the workforce that keeps our economy alive and our community strong. A commitment to justice and inclusion. We must continue to ensure that work for our labor force is accompanied by fair working conditions and a vision of inclusion. We must continue working to guarantee that all workers, young and old, have the protection and opportunities to grow in an environment of respect. Only when we value the human being behind the work can we truly say we are progressing. A message of gratitude. To all workers who are the silent heroes of our nation: thank you. Your dedication is proof that a country’s greatest strength lies not in its buildings, but in the courage of its people. What we achieve together is what defines our future. Thank you very much for your daily contribution and Happy Workers’ Day!
