ORANJESTAD, Aruba — The DIMAS Customer Care Project is moving forward as the immigration department works to improve public service while also developing a new digital tool that could connect job seekers with employers across Aruba.
Justice Minister Arthur Dowers recently met with DIMAS representatives at the Bestuurskantoor to receive an update on several projects currently being developed by the organization.
DIMAS was represented by director Kathleen Paskel and strategic adviser Gregory Hoogenbergen.
During the meeting, officials discussed both improvements to customer service and a new employment-matching application developed in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, or IOM.
DIMAS Customer Care Project Targets Better Service
During the first part of the meeting, DIMAS presented its DIMAS Customer Care Project, which is designed to improve the experience people receive when using the department’s services.
Officials explained the strategic plan behind the initiative, including its objectives, scheduled activities, implementation timeline and estimated costs.
The presentation also gave Minister Dowers an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the next steps required to put the project into operation.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by DIMAS to make its services more accessible, efficient and responsive to members of the public.
New App Connects Workers With Employers
The second part of the meeting focused on a new application developed jointly by DIMAS and IOM as part of Hunto pa Progreso – Spoor 4.
The application is designed to connect participants in the program with companies that are actively looking for employees.
When the system identifies an appropriate match between a participant and an employer, arrangements can be made for the company to become the participant’s guarantor.
Officials demonstrated how the application works during the meeting.
The system has been designed to be straightforward and accessible so both workers and participating businesses can use it more easily.
Dowers Welcomes Digital Initiative
Minister Dowers responded positively to the possibilities offered by the application and expressed appreciation for the cooperation that made its development possible.
The platform currently serves participants involved in Hunto pa Progreso – Spoor 4.
However, officials said its potential use could eventually extend beyond that program.
Once the current phase of Hunto pa Progreso concludes, DIMAS plans to evaluate whether the application could serve a broader group of job seekers.
Platform Could Expand Across Aruba
Possible future users could include people who already hold valid permits but want to change jobs, as well as local residents seeking employment.
If expanded, the application could eventually develop into a wider employment platform linking job seekers directly with companies that need workers.
Such a system could simplify the recruitment process for employers while providing workers with clearer access to available job opportunities.
The concept builds on earlier DIMAS and IOM efforts to connect registered participants with employers facing staffing needs.
DIMAS Pursues More Accessible Services
The meeting gave Dowers a broader overview of the modernization projects currently underway at DIMAS.
Through the DIMAS Customer Care Project, the organization is focusing on improving how clients interact with its services.
At the same time, the employment application demonstrates how digital tools could be used to make government processes more practical while also supporting Aruba’s labor market.
DIMAS will evaluate the results of the current initiatives before deciding how widely the new employment platform can be used in the future.
If expanded successfully, the system could provide both job seekers and Aruba businesses with a simpler way to find suitable employment matches.
