A JetBlue flight destined for John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York executed an emergency return to Aruba after departing at 5:50 PM. On route, the captain declared an emergency due to a bird strike, necessitating a turnaround back to Aruba.
Following the report, emergency protocols were initiated, alerting the police, fire department, and ambulance services. An American Airlines flight, which was on its final approach to land, was instructed to abort and take off again to clear the runway, providing space for the JetBlue flight to land.
The JetBlue aircraft completed its landing successfully. Immediately after landing, fire department units mobilized to inspect the aircraft and ensure safety before passengers were allowed to disembark. This event marks the third time a flight has been forced to return to Aruba due to a bird strike.
