Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) has named Somaly Felten as its HOH Employee of the Month for May, recognizing her outstanding dedication, professionalism, and commitment to both patients and colleagues.

The announcement came as a complete surprise to Felten when she entered what she believed was a regular meeting, only to be welcomed by family members, colleagues, specialists, and members of the Board of Directors who greeted her with a joyful surprise celebration. The special moment was filled with praise and appreciation for her exceptional contributions to the hospital.

Felten serves as a medical secretary in the nephrology clinic and has earned a reputation as an outstanding team player. Colleagues describe her as someone they can always rely on and praise her for actively contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.

According to HOH, she consistently provides constructive feedback in a respectful manner and is never afraid to raise important issues when needed. At the same time, she listens attentively to others and encourages open communication within her team.

In addition to her regular duties, Felten coordinates outpatient clinics and provides valuable support to the clinic management team. Her involvement extends beyond her daily responsibilities, as she also participates in several important hospital committees and initiatives.

She is an active member of the hospital’s emergency response team, contributes to the implementation of Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, and serves on the incident reporting committee. Through these roles, she demonstrates her commitment to the continuous improvement and development of healthcare services at HOH.

Patient care remains one of Felten’s highest priorities. Her approachable and friendly attitude helps patients feel comfortable asking questions and sharing concerns. She is dedicated to maintaining and updating her professional knowledge and applying what she learns to improve daily operations and patient experiences.

HOH highlighted that Felten consistently promotes quality, safety, and ethical decision-making. She regularly brings forward ideas and solutions that benefit both her colleagues and the patients she serves.

Hospital leadership, management, and staff expressed their gratitude for her dedication and praised her as an exemplary employee whose professionalism and positive attitude make a significant difference throughout the organization.

The HOH Employee of the Month recognition celebrates Felten’s exceptional service and acknowledges the important role she plays in supporting high-quality healthcare in Aruba.

Congratulations to Somaly Felten on this well-deserved honor.
