ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba’s Department of Social Affairs (DAS) is reminding clients who receive financial assistance that they are legally required to report any changes in their personal circumstances to maintain their benefits.
According to DAS spokesperson Marceylaine Paskel, recipients must notify the department of changes such as their address, family situation or travel plans. Updates can be submitted through WhatsApp, email or by visiting the DAS office.
Paskel explained that failing to report changes could affect a person’s eligibility for financial assistance if the department later discovers the information independently.
Under Aruba’s social assistance regulations, beneficiaries may remain outside Aruba for up to four weeks. Travel beyond that period may impact their benefits, making advance notification essential.
Clients traveling overseas for medical treatment covered by Aruba’s health insurance provider (AZV) follow a separate procedure. While those trips do not affect financial assistance, recipients must still notify DAS before traveling.
