ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Common Good Conference 2026, hosted last month, concluded with a remarkable presentation from the students of Mon Plaisir College. This initiative, which started on January 29, 2026, showcased the creative and insightful ideas of students focusing on the theme “Common Good” (Bon Comun). The conference session was attended by Prime Minister Mike Eman, who welcomed the students and acknowledged their presentations, which covered important issues affecting the community.

During the event, five student groups from Mon Plaisir College presented projects addressing key challenges in the community, including:

  • Plastic pollution and waste on beaches
  • Crime prevention through youth engagement
  • Lack of activities after school hours
  • The impact of tourism on local culture
  • Mental health challenges among youth

The students’ participation in the Common Good Expo and Conference 2026, held from January 29–30, was part of a broader academic effort, which included visits to the University of Aruba to engage in discussions on topics relevant to their future and social impact.

These presentations highlighted the youth’s deep awareness of the challenges Aruba faces and their proactive stance on finding sustainable solutions. Investing in youth is an investment in the future of Aruba, and the future of Aruba is built on youth, responsibility, and the Common Good.
