ORANJESTAD (AAN): In collaboration with the European Union, the local organization Popcorn Club, led by Freddy Tromp, continues to create unique opportunities for the personal and creative development of Aruban youth.

Founded in 1989, Popcorn Club’s mission is to guide and empower youth through educational, creative, and social activities. Since 2019, the organization has strengthened its impact through participation in various projects supported by the European Union.

Through this collaboration, Popcorn Club facilitates international exchange, sending Aruban youth abroad for experiences while also hosting European volunteers and participants in Aruba.

One of the main initiatives is the creative camp project, where art and culture are used as tools for training. During these programs, youth engage in workshops such as music production, audiovisual production, documentary filmmaking, and other creative disciplines, while developing personal and social skills.

European volunteers actively contribute to the process, providing knowledge in areas such as project organization, documentation, and creative training. EU support covers transportation and basic expenses, making international participation accessible.

According to Freddy Tromp, this collaboration has opened doors to many opportunities for local youth, allowing them not only to gain international experience but also to share Aruban culture with other countries.

A notable aspect is that Popcorn Club maintains its principle of accessibility: all activities are free for youth, allowing broad participation without financial barriers.

With over 30 years of experience, the organization continues to evolve and expand its impact, positioning youth as a hub for community development and international collaboration.
