The police union SPA has reported 90 civilian police vacancies in Aruba following a staffing inventory, according to 24ora’s October 16 report.
54 of 144 civilian posts filled
SPA president Lito Lacle said a detailed review identified a requirement for 144 civilian positions within the police organization, of which only 54 were filled, the outlet reported.
The figures were raised during a recent meeting with the justice minister and police leadership, according to the report.
Recruitment and overtime support sought
24ora reported that SPA and police leadership sent an official letter to the justice minister asking for vacancies to be opened as soon as possible. They also requested the overtime hours needed to cover the gap until positions begin to be filled.
