Aruba Lions Club welcomed an international service-club leader during its latest meeting, continuing a recent series of overseas visits to the nearly 80-year-old local organization.
Ty’East Alleyne-Bobb, a member of Central Brooklyn Lions Club Inc., attended the meeting while visiting Aruba. She serves as first vice district governor for Lions clubs in Brooklyn and Queens, New York, within District 20-K.
Visitor praises Aruba Lions Club’s community work
According to the club, Alleyne-Bobb’s stay on the island was brief, but she praised the welcome she received and the community work carried out by Aruba Lions Club. She also offered to support the organization through her experience, advice and professional connections.
The visitor and local club representatives exchanged commemorative gifts during the meeting. Alleyne-Bobb then continued an island bus trip with friends who had traveled from the United States for a birthday celebration.
Service programs support residents across Aruba
Aruba Lions Club said it has served the island for almost eight decades. Its programs include access to hospital beds and wheelchairs, the Smile Mobile, health fairs, back-to-school food bags and Christmas food baskets.
The club is affiliated with Lions Clubs International, which the organization says includes more than 46,000 clubs and 1.4 million members in over 200 countries.
International ties expand local cooperation
The Aruba Lions Club visit gave local members an opportunity to exchange ideas with a senior Lions representative from New York. The club said it expects to continue welcoming international visitors while working with local partners to improve residents’ quality of life.
