In the early hours of New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31, a BMW sedan overturned on WVB Boulevard, coming to rest upside down in the middle of the roadway.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m., about 55 meters past the Bushiri roundabout, prompting Central Police Dispatch to send patrol units urgently to the scene.
Upon arrival, police officers from Oranjestad confirmed that the vehicle involved was a BMW sedan, which had flipped and landed on its roof with all four wheels in the air. The driver was found at the scene and informed officers that he was not injured.
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, causing the car to strike and uproot a traffic sign before overturning.
As a safety precaution, WVB Boulevard was temporarily closed to traffic while emergency services secured the area. A tow truck later arrived to remove the vehicle, allowing traffic flow to resume shortly afterward.
Police continue to document the incident, and no further injuries were reported.
