VIEWS

The Peasch murder case June 2026 hearing has been officially scheduled after a recent pro-forma session in the Aruba Court involving 40-year-old Israel Jesus Paesch, who is accused of fatally shooting his cousin Rene Paesch.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, August 23, 2025, outside the suspect’s home in Coba Lodo, Santa Cruz.

Early Morning Shooting in Coba Lodo

According to police reports, authorities received a call around 6:07 a.m. reporting gunfire in the Coba Lodo area. Several police patrol units from Santa Cruz, along with detectives from the investigation unit, were dispatched immediately.

When officers arrived at the address Coba Lodo 2-C, they discovered a motorcycle lying on the roadside and a man lying on the ground near the garage entrance. The victim was wearing red shorts and had severe head injuries.

Paramedics quickly arrived and attempted to assess the victim, but no vital signs were detected. The man was later identified as Rene Paesch.

Suspect Surrendered Later That Day

Police confirmed that Rene Paesch had an ongoing conflict with his cousin Israel Paesch, who was not present at the scene when officers arrived.

Authorities confiscated both the motorcycle the victim had used to arrive and a Suzuki Swift parked inside the property’s garage area as part of the investigation.

Later that same evening, detectives returned to the residence, where Israel Paesch surrendered to authorities. Police noted visible injuries on his face at the time of arrest, but he was taken into custody without resistance.

Investigators believe the injuries may have resulted from a physical altercation earlier that morning in the parking lot of Lekker Bar & Restaurant in Noord, shortly before the shooting occurred.

Charges and Evidence

During the court proceedings, prosecutors confirmed that Israel Paesch faces several charges, including:

  • Murder of Rene Paesch

  • Illegal possession of a firearm

  • Possession of cocaine

Two witnesses have already been questioned by the investigating judge, and authorities have also collected video evidence from security cameras near Lekker Bar & Restaurant showing a confrontation between the individuals earlier that day.

The judge requested both the prosecution and defense to identify specific relevant footage within the recordings.

Additional Evidence and Investigation

Prosecutors also indicated that investigators are examining forensic evidence, including a bullet casing discovered in the Suzuki Swift seized at the scene.

The judge suggested that audio recordings may also be reviewed as part of the case, although the court does not plan to play the surveillance videos directly during the hearing.

Suspect Declines to Speak

During the pro-forma hearing, the judge indicated that police had planned further questioning of the suspect. However, Israel Paesch stated he does not wish to speak further about the incident at this time.

He told the court that the event continues to affect him emotionally and that he prefers not to relive what happened.

The judge acknowledged the seriousness of the case but indicated that questions will still be asked during the full trial in order to clarify the events surrounding the shooting.

Trial Expected to Last a Full Day

According to the prosecutor, the full court hearing could last an entire day or longer. The prosecution’s arguments are expected to take approximately 30 minutes, while the defense presentation could last 30 to 45 minutes.

Defense attorney Mr. Arends-Marchena represents Israel Paesch in the case.

The court has scheduled the full hearing for Friday, June 19, 2026.

During the session, the victim’s sister also informed the court that she intends to exercise her right to address the court during the proceedings.
